It's a lace designed with author's signature style. Lace making techniques usually derive from a certain traditional style, in my case it is Idrija lace. The pattern itself, however, is not taken from tradition but is author's own work - sketched on the basis of artist's or designer's own idea. Original lace design is therefore a modern interpretation of old tradition. It is a unique design piece searching for a dialogue with modern way of living. It represents a live, evolving part of lacing techniques, which is so important for preservation and development of this magnificent art.
Various original patterns have in time become so popular, that we can call them traditional.
